I have wanted to start a blog for a long time, I even attempted a few times, but never quite got there. I got frustrated trying to add a cute background, center writing and pictures, etc. As you can see, all of these problems are still there, I just don't care anymore! Now that Kaleb and I have started our family I want a place to journal all that our little family does! I am going to go back a little here and start when little Gracie Lou was born.
My body did NOT want to go into labor on its own, so I went in to be induced on the night of the July 18, one week past my due date. I'll tell you what, we were prepared! I had a bag with ANYTHING I might need, and Kaleb had a backpack full of treats and games for us to pass the time!
We were so lucky to have Emily be our nurse! She was patient with me while I stressed over getting an IV and even got the anesthesiologist to come and talk to me and make me feel better about the epidural.
Things went much faster then expected and I was fully dilated by 4:30 the next morning. I called and woke Emily up and she got back just in time. Dr. Rees was the Doctor on call, we were excited since he was one of our favorites! After about a 1/2 hour of pushing our pumpkin arrived!
Gracie came to this world with eyes wide open! She furrowed her little brow and observed everything around her.
Yes, we both look hammered! We were up all night!
Kaleb went to the nursery with Gracie for her first bath while they got me set up in our room.
People were so great to come visit while we were there. Kalebs parents, Becca and kids, Joe and Amy, Kaden and Lindsey, and Whitney and Kelly all came to see us. We weren't very good with the camera and only got pictures with a few of our visitors.
Kaleb is pretty much the best dad EVER! He was super nervous about holding a new baby and changing dirty diapers before Gracie arrived, but he did both (even if it did gross him out)!
We had Gracie's outfit for her to come home in picked out months before she came. We had her all dressed and ready to go and were just waiting to be discharged and she pooped and got it all over her outfit!!! We didn't bring a back up outfit, so she came home in a diaper and the white shirt from the hospital! I may have cried!
